Our Story

In 2012, God began placing a burden in Bushawn and Sequela Carpenter for people in the city of Barstow, CA who did not know God and were completely unconnected to one of the many local churches in the vicinity. Despite not knowing the exact term for this "burden", the Carpenters and their church, Bethany Christian Fellowship, were convinced that God was calling them to establish a new church in the city of Barstow.

What began as 2 people sent out from Bethany Christian Fellowship became a planting team of 30 people (including some who were far from God) who met together weekly to discuss vision and strategy in Comfort Suites of Barstow. After meeting for 3 months, some of the people on the planting team began to repent, acknowledging their need for a savior and surrendering their hearts to the lordship of Jesus. Baptisms followed and faith began to rise.

On September 14, 2014, Total Restoration Church was officially birthed inside the Boys Gym of Barstow High School. As God had promised, a culturally diverse group of believers began to engage in the city of Barstow to proclaim the good news that Jesus is a restorer. Our local fellowship has changed quite a bit since 2014, but our passion to proclaim the gospel and prepare disciples has not. We still believe that God can transform our little city… for His glory.
